The theme of this project is of particular interest, both for the intrinsic value of the site, a complex system of gardens, "relevance" and architecture, whose matrix is now endorsed by Bernini critical reason and documentary evidence, both for the typical subjects "of the property subject of the intervention.

In fact, the parks and gardens are made, as well as from the episodes that characterize the architectural highlights, including and especially plants from the elements, living organisms are subject to considerable change over time.

Already in the first half of the nineteenth century, Herman von Pückler - Muskau, noted this peculiarity in the following way: "It 'impossible, in the strongest terms, to get a park (...) keeps growing up the original appearance, although obviously in different proportions, and that all will come up with its components in an inter unchanged, because nature can not be calculated with mathematical precision in advance and trying to keep our work as it was in the beginning would result in a large and pointless waste of time. We, in fact (...) we are not able to provide a work immutable and ended in itself (...) and our pictures are not static but in constant evolution. "

All this introduces very well the difficulties encountered in establishing a proper disciplinary matters, when it strays from the restoration of architecture and artifacts in the restoration of works plant, trying to preserve what is by nature volatile.

However, particularly in recent decades, beginning with the drafting of the Charter of the Italian Historical Gardens (Florence, 1981), were more clearly defined methods of approach to this particular sector and addresses the specific cultural, so today, in addressing similar issues, it is possible to find points of reference, although not always unique.

We recall here that in our country we prefer to restore a garden or park without restoring the parties have disappeared, while other countries such as France and Great Britain, in the presence of certain historical documents attesting to its original configuration, you have a to recreate the original layout.

The basis for a correct restoration, however, there must always be finding investigations, often interdisciplinary, ranging from historical sources and archival retrieval, relief botanical and forestry until the archaeological survey, which is necessary to investigate the remains and exhibits covered the ground.

This is well evidenced also by the "Charter" of 1981, when Article 15 says that "any restoration and repair all the more reason (...) should be undertaken only after a detailed study that goes from the borehole to collect all the documentation on the scientific nature of the intervention. "

The method adopted for Lamporecchio strictly follows these addresses disciplinary, since extensive research based on literature sources and especially archival, allowed to reconstruct the history of evolution of this area, starting dall'assetto documented in the "Sample Rospigliosi" of 1675, to the changes made during the first half of the twentieth century. Excavations carried out then the bottom of the "Pescaione" have brought to light the remaining portions of the original pavement, consisting of a uniform jet made with lime, gravel and pebble stone. They also found fragments that show how a time, on the foundations of stone still visible on the main wall of this invasion, were placed in terracotta vases from Corona, places in the fashion of the time to enrich the structure.

Attention to historical stratigraphy, still evident on the spot, "and the proper disciplinary approach to intervention have led not to place any time over another,

but rather to seek evidence of the coexistence of different periods in a coherent and responsive to new functional needs of the area will become a public park open not only to communities in the area, but also to the wider tourism ..

Its location linking the monumental complex of the Palazzo Rospigliosi, formerly the site of receptions and other initiatives, and the center of town, where the recent restoration of the Teatro Comunale has created another important cultural pole of attraction, will ensure that once conducted the operation, was reconstituted in this area a "unique" landscape and monuments of great importance for the entire Valdinievole.

Achieving this goal will have positive impacts on both the socio-economic area, both on the environmental quality of the surrounding territory, as it will be removed from an irreversible degradation process of a major in history and culture, otherwise destined to disappear.

The project is also consistent with the needs of protection and conservation, research the best capabilities for the collective enjoyment of the property, paying attention also to the educational-informational aspects.

They envisage installing a series of panels intended to provide users of the park, in a clear and concise, the complexity of the environment (tables with historical stratigraphy, computer allowing them to match the original layout with the visible traces spot information about the botanical paintings and natural).

The visit to the "Gardens", therefore, represent an opportunity not only to enjoy a moment of leisure and relaxation, also to make a path of knowledge among episodes full of exciting curiosity.

Renovation will realize a fundamental spatial and environmental hinge between the monumental area prominent where Bernini's Palazzo Rospigliosi is already home to important cultural initiatives and the building of the Theater and the Municipal Library, to become an important milestone for Life cultural area, since it will receive, in addition to normal play activities, including conferences and other similar events.

It will thus provide a real museum and the center of Lamporecchio, through architectural, landscape and botanical park, leads the visitor to the Villa Rospigliosi and it's splendid outline (Appendix 1).

The exploitation of this local cultural system, which for its importance is bound to have a considerable pool of reference, is already one of the objectives of some supra-major programs, such as:

· The Memorandum of Understanding for the Museum System of Valdinievole concluded with the Province of Pistoia in 2003 to create, among other things, "thematic itineraries that will ensure a continuous flow from the museum to the territory and the territory of the museum";

· The Conference of Mayors of Montalbano, which includes all the municipalities of Montalbano Pistoia and Florence;

The PASL (Pact for Local Development) approved by the Province of Pistoia and forwarded to the Region of Tuscany, in which this area was among those to redevelop and enhance.

In addition to the value and importance of the asset to which the intervention should be at this point to highlight some particular elements introduced by this project in the recovery program area of the "Gardens".

Reconstitution-scale environmental complex system formed by the Rospigliosi palace and its park, and their union with the pole Theater - Library, is certainly something not to be underestimated, as it can introduce innovative factors in the local cultural landscape.

The system, in fact, may provide important opportunities for the growth of cultural tourism in the area and to develop services related to environmental education and historical - cultural.

The Town Council, who have long established a fruitful understanding with the owners of the villa stand out for various initiatives, will strengthen this relationship to promote and enhance the entire monumental complex connected to the memory of Clement IX and Gianlorenzo Bernini.

It foresees the organization of guided tours through this ideal museum, in particular for students, not just the area of Pistoia and Florence, but also other parts of our country. Information on the content and the opportunities afforded by visits will be available on the web and network managed by the Municipal Library.

Even the educational signs - Information designed for the park is a source of novelty both for content, which for the materials provided. In fact, it will not only provide the only information on the services area, as often happens, but will deepen through drawings, texts and reproductions of the historical aspects of the most significant cultural and natural park. The visitor will thus have a useful tool for understanding the events which in turn will see along the route.

The project foresees some interventions aimed at the restoration of architectural events in the park (the broken viewpoint, the pescaione, the walls of the seventeenth-century arrangement, the bridge under which ran the old road to Larciano), others seek to assist in maintaining and recovery apparatus of the plant.

For the first will apply the methodologies of architectural restoration, with a few overlapped with the archaeological restoration because of the particular nature of some artifacts.

The works at the plant, however, could not follow the criterion of conservation alone, which is ill-suited to plants, which have a well-defined life cycle in the time it takes them to grow, develop and die. Here, then, that in this particular area, next to the concept of "conservation" should be introduced, that of "integration" and "substitution".

For greater clarity, in dealing with the description of the intervention, it is preferred to divide the area into seven major areas (see also Annex 2):

1. The new pedestrian entrance, scheduled on the old road Larciano now abandoned (see Table 3 and historical report).

2. The old street, which builds on pescaione is continuity in the "closed REDOL of" beyond the road, and is part of the seventeenth-century accommodations.

3. The new boulevard, which is the current pedestrian entrance and drive-over with a diagonal pattern from the road.

4. The area of pescaione, which is perhaps the most significant Buoyancy of the seventeenth century.

5. The Gardens, the extensive parterre divided into radial paths which lies upstream of pescaione.

The forest of pasture or wooded area interposed between that system and the sports area.

The first operational requirements, emerged 's examination of the current state, was to provide the structure of an input adapted to the new destination in a public park. The current entry, in fact, is infeasible for collective use of the area, as it overlooks a very busy road and free at that point, the sidewalk on both sides.

The old road to Larciano, long unused, which passes right by the entrance of the weir, downstream, and Gardens, upstream, it quickly appeared, also consistent with the historical and evolving area, the area most suitable which provide a new entrance to the park. The road home, which originally followed the course elevation of the terrain, the early twentieth century with the development of downtown Lamporecchio the southeastern margin of the weir and the resulting ground level, suffered a drop in elevation, which led to construction of a bridge above brick in order to maintain continuity between the area of the Gardens and of the former hunting reserve Rospigliosi. Currently a part of this road has been cleared by the deployment of the new roads of the capital. Remains, in addition to the track still visible inside the property Cenci, the arch of the bridge that overlooks the buffered sidewalk via Verdi, near the Teatro Comunale.

The project, removed padding sham and cleaned and detached the structure of the bridge from the concrete retaining wall, we propose to access the park through the arch of brick, thus regaining the memory of the old road axis and tying the village center and its most important cultural center, the renovated municipal theater, the "Gardens" and, further, the Palazzo Rospigliosi.

The height difference between the point of entry and the "old street" will be passed through a path that proceeds on the two slopes, even today, define the route of the old road. The first part of that route, to minimize the movement of earth, thanks to its construction technique, it will be just lying on the slope. The floor of the trench, in fact, will be built with appeals supported on beams and wooden pillars driven into the ground. The two slopes will be connected by a wooden walkway and metal structures, while the final section of the trail will have the bottom clay stabilized. This solution was preferred to others, which, although involving only one of the embankments, however, had greater development of the trail and away from the visitors' drive too old.

The intervention in this area will be completed:

· From leveling and polishing of embankments,

· Consolidation and securing of the remains of stone walls backing the bridge,

· From realization of a paved, connected to the pavement via Verdi through steps, which will act as a starting point for the path slightly uphill,

· From planting of creepers and falling acts to shield the wall in right AC, which overlooks Via Verdi.

· The formation of a "river" plant, consisting of flowering shrubs, at the bottom of the old road.

The visitor, then, once past the arched entrance, he will immediately immersed in the natural reality of the park, moving on very light structures and the limited impact, it will begin a journey in the countryside, looking out and "suspended" on " River of colorful flowers.

It is one of the most important traces of the original structure seventeenth century. It represents the main element of that axle and visual space, which once linked the upper part of the old system to the closed, thanks to the natural continuity with the "REDOL" central crossing the reserve. Restore this continuity, however, that existed until the last war, when there was a footbridge that spanned the main road, is one of the goals that characterize the project.

For this reason it involves the construction of a footbridge in metal and wood, set to bypass the existing road Larciano and Montecatini. This element will recreate so quell'unitarietà space and environmental resources, which had been through the centuries, the predominant feature of this territory and that, unfortunately, was lost in recent decades.

This artifact is characterized by a very light, obtained through the use of laminated wood and Forestays side, useful for thin sectioning of the supporting beams, and accentuated by the "transparency" of the parapet, formed by vertical iron rods and horizontal steel. Even the walking surface, provided with wooden beams to mount with interposed a small leak will help to alleviate the "burden" of the work for its better integration into the surrounding landscape.

Upstream from the footbridge, as evidenced by some of the remains still visible, the old street was paved with cobblestones made up of small-sized stones and fragments of bricks tied with Malta. The project will recover some of this technology, but merely use it to define the side edges of the lane and not extend to the entire surface. Given its size (more than 8 ml), in fact, a floor like that, though justified by the traces on the ground and made from recycled materials, have also been a factor too strong in the context of the park, considering that its perception was not diminished by the "patina of time."

Limited side strips, however, will be useful to collect and drain the rainwater into the drains. The bottom of the central part of the avenue will be made of clay stabilized with unique components, which help to seal ensuring natural and colors similar to those of the surrounding terrain.

The side walls, which have reached the arrangement of the seventeenth century, will be cleaned and preserved as evidence Buoyancy original park.

And 'the new entrance created in the twentieth century and is the only route by vehicles. Its realization has led to a loss of axial park and a marginalization of the seventeenth-century structures, which currently do not have adequate relief.

More recent construction, is burdened, alas, by an easement of passage for pedestrians and Vehicle access for users of the Palazzo Rospigliosi. This fact is undoubtedly interfere with the new intended use for the park, the project intends to otherwise inhibit the installation, entry, automatic opening devices used only by authorized personnel. Furthermore, the bottom of this path consists of a cobbled stone consists of medium and large size, arranged in an irregular way, which is not conducive to haul vehicles

It is proposed therefore to maintain this type of pavement and extended to include areas that currently lack them. The difficulty of traveling along with the need to build the necessary tool for opening the automatic mechanism, according to forecasts, should address most of those seeking to reach the other entrance to the Palazzo Rospigliosi, existing upstream along the way for San Baronto.

Currently the vehicles, before arriving at the straight road that leads from the square Giardinetti prominent lapping structures pescaione with the real risk of damage. That is expected to remove the path from pescaione of about 5 / 10 ml so as to free from any interference that will become the heart of the new public park.

The diversion is designed to avoid compromising the surrounding vegetation, which will remain unchanged, except for a couple of bushes without any major botanical.

The intersection between the old and new avenue has been defined to make each track immediately identifiable, thus keeping the two separate paths, and be perceived as evidence of different eras. At this point then it is for the installation of some cast-iron bollards are necessary to prevent anyone invading the avenue old.

The closure of access to the public from the avenue and its reduction to a new service entrance will help to restore the avenue to its former centrality. Moreover, in the strip of land that will be created for the deviation of the diagonal path that is necessary to remove him from pescaione, it is expected the planting of some oaks, which will serve as a visual barrier in order to limit the perception by some points of view privileged. This too will help to enhance the original axial avenue old.

This road access, however, will allow disabled people to easily be able to enjoy the park, as stipulated by the existing rules

Will become the center of the park, surrounded by large paved areas, prime staging point along the longitudinal path through this green.

On the wall of the article is scheduled to speak with the recovery of restoration of the hydraulic features of the basin, which contains the following items:

· Cleaning up the fund.

· Cleaning up of the walls from all the vegetation and weed portions of plaster detached from the underlying support and subsequent reinstatement of the same materials and traditional technologies.

· Timely cleaning and restoration of the frame in sandstone, which is a culmination of the main wall the reservoir. It is concerned by wide lifting and diffuse lesions, with sulfation, scaling and mold surface, as well as movements that have moved from their original location. To mitigate these problems is to speak with the consolidation of parties which tend to fall apart, by application of ethyl silicate and / or fluorinated rubber, and the rehabilitation of dilapidated or undocked by gluing with epoxy resin and steel fixtures with artifacts as well as a subsequent treatment with a protective water-repellent product.

· Realization of a simple form of iron railing, to be installed along the perimeter of the artifact for reasons of public safety arising from the use of the area.

· Introduction of a recirculating hydraulic mechanism, which provides for the reactivation of the function of the mask for the output water. The fund and the extent of the collection tank will be small compared to the original, both for safety reasons and to avoid actions with heavy mortars and cements waterproofing affecting the appearance of the structure.

All'invaso around, the two broad paths that repeat the semicircular pattern, will be paved with cobblestones similar to that provided along the edges of the old avenue. The pronounced differences in height combined with the concentration of large quantities of meteoric water is inadvisable, indeed, to give this area paving gravel or similar materials.

The two side walls of stone, the remains of the seventeenth-century arrangement, will be cleared of weed vegetation and subsequently consolidated.

A careful comparison of historical maps and current status of course in this area as the neglect of the undergrowth and the meteoric water runoff has caused, over time, slight but significant changes to the morphology of radial paths that characterize the area . Starting from the overlap between the current state and design found in the map of 1822 (see why the pi. 3), were unable to find the limit between the paths and individual sectors, even where this had been lost to encroachments undergrowth.

The project, therefore, expects to redefine the original asset of this area through the finish on the bottom of the paths with gravel stabilized and slotted sandstone, according to a design derived from the mapping of the early nineteenth century.

The ruin belvedere, which is at the center of the system to now in poor condition, radical attack from the apparatus of the vegetation and conspicuously marked by cracks and lesions.

In this case the only action available is to type a restoration of "archaeological", which provides for the elimination of the roots of trees with non-traumatic methods and consolidation, leading to the securing, of existing masonry structures.

Around the structure also will install an iron railing for protection.

Whole area, then, is characterized by an excessive density of vegetation, with numerous examples for the emerging natural regeneration and widespread cases of structural instability combined with poor vegetative condition.

The hypothesis of the project you want to suggest, therefore, are based on that premise involves tree thinning over the entire lawn area and coverage of individual sectors triangular with a mixture of type oligospecificio Trifolium repens and Festuca arundinacea.

The Gardens will assume, therefore, the appearance of grass and trees, as they retain some valuable specimens of Quercus ilex, Pinus pinea, Ciavardello and Field Maple to preserve the effect of the double height of the foliage and allow the passage of light and enjoyment of 'area. Thinning along the north side of East picturesque spots to promote the surrounding countryside and the monumental complex of segments, in line with the desire to recover the visual axis input-Rospiglioni-palace gardens.

The terrain is characterized by significant gradients, is occupied by a mixed forest, called "the pasture" in historical maps, the structure appears to be irregular and layered with lots of pine trees dead or in poor vegetative condition.

In terms phytopathological different specimens were affected by agents of decay.

Within the forest there are significant traces of the seventeenth century, made of stone walls, which are expected to clean up and make visible along footpaths and "path to health.

In this area including the removal of some specimens of Pinus pinea and Pinus pinaster, including those already hit the stumps, and the thinning of existing trees and stumps.

The project also identifies as mixed forest area for the insertion of wooden toys for children, organized along the pedestrian paths.

This strip of land affected by the completion of the concrete wall on a straight road, no doubt requires an intervention that restitution to the regeneration of new features planned for this green area.

First, along the outer edge towards the province, will be paid by an informal hedge shrubs that fall from which it will develop, in order to mitigate the impact of hanging on the line.

In the inner area, about three feet out of alignment shaft of old oaks lining the boulevard is expected to plant an espalier hornbeam, which will act as noise barrier, necessary to mitigate the noise rising from the street below.

The choice of this essence is also justified by the historical tradition of the place, since, in the first half of the nineteenth century, it was suggested to use to bypass the direct avenue to the palace prominent as shown by a letter of factor Hammers of 1834 .

Will leave the space between the informal and the hornbeam hedge, so as to delineate the areas where grass is expected to enter a collection of fruits, symbolizing the original purpose of use of this strip of land (see map Land Use 1822).

Finally, while referring to the elaborate specialist would require some notes on the plant project.

E 'will obviously be put into operation an irrigation system fed by an existing wells to meet the needs of the lawn, in the fields of geometric gardens, and other essences of the new plant, such as hedges, borders and trees planted to replace specimens of diseased or dead.

The hydraulic part will be completed by the system of removal of stormwater and the installation of recirculation pescaione.

In the Gardens was also provided for a lighting system, consisting of luminaires recessed into the ground, that through the accurate determination of the temperatures of light beams, will create the ideal conditions to bring out the green of plants and architectural events all over the park .
